Bill overview
The Heroes Act of 2020 temporarily excludes a portion of income for certain first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, it allows qualified individuals like doctors, nurses, firefighters, and law enforcement officers working in counties with confirmed COVID-19 cases to exclude up to $50,000 of their wages from their gross income. This exclusion applies from February 15, 2020, to June 15, 2020, and can be extended for up to three additional months if the Treasury Secretary deems it necessary.
