Bill overview
The Price Gouging Prevention Act aims to prevent businesses from significantly raising prices on essential goods during declared emergencies. It prohibits sellers from charging more than 10% more than the price charged before the emergency, unless the increase is due to actual increased costs. The Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general are given the authority to enforce these rules and penalize violators.
