Bill overview
The Reservist Pay Equity Act of 2020 aims to support employers who hire active duty military personnel by increasing the tax credit they receive for paying these employees at the same rate as civilian workers. Specifically, the bill raises the percentage of the differential wage payment credit from 20% to 50%. Furthermore, the maximum dollar amount of the credit will be adjusted annually for inflation, starting in 2022, to account for rising costs. These changes are intended to encourage employers to hire and retain service members.
