Bill overview
The Youth, Peace, and Security Act of 2020 aims to increase the involvement of young people in efforts to prevent and resolve conflicts, as well as support recovery after conflicts. It directs the State Department to develop a whole-of-government strategy to prioritize youth participation in peacebuilding and related activities. The bill also establishes a Coordinator position within USAID to lead this effort, provides for funding to support youth-led organizations, and encourages the government to integrate youth perspectives into its foreign assistance programs.
