Bill overview
The Data to Save Moms Act of 2020 aims to address the maternal mortality crisis, particularly among women of color. It establishes a Task Force to evaluate maternal health data, recommend improvements to maternity care, and assess quality measures. The bill also provides funding for maternal mortality review committees to include community representatives and supports research into the causes of maternal health disparities, especially among Native American and Alaska Native women. Finally, it directs the Indian Health Service to conduct a comprehensive study on maternal mortality rates within those populations.
