Bill overview
This bill, the Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Law Enforcement Training Act, aims to improve how law enforcement responds to individuals experiencing traumatic brain injury (TBI) or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It directs the Bureau of Justice Assistance to develop and distribute crisis intervention training tools for first responders, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other agencies. The bill also mandates a study by the CDC to track the prevalence of concussions among first responders and incorporates these findings into a broader police-mental health collaboration toolkit.
