Bill overview
This bill, the Decrease Noise Levels Act, aims to reduce airplane noise impacting communities across the United States. It directs the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to lower the standard for what constitutes excessive noise from airplanes, from 65 decibels to 60 decibels. The FAA must also evaluate and report on alternative noise measurement methods and develop a plan to reduce the highest average noise levels in residential areas to 55 decibels within ten years.
