Bill overview
This bill, the Congressional Accountability Act Enhancement Act, strengthens the existing Congressional Accountability Act by requiring Members of Congress to reimburse the Treasury for all employment discrimination settlements and awards, not just harassment cases. It also mandates that the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights conduct a full investigation of all workplace discrimination claims filed by employees. Furthermore, the bill expands the Office’s investigative authority, allowing them to issue subpoenas and report findings to both the employee and the employing office, including transmitting reports to relevant ethics committees.
