Bill overview
The Veterans Back to Work Act of 2019 makes the work opportunity tax credit permanent for veterans who are receiving compensation for a service-connected disability and other federal assistance. It also allows employers to claim an exemption from paying employment and railroad retirement taxes on the first year of wages for qualified veterans. The bill includes appropriations to Social Security and the Social Security Equivalent Benefit Account to cover any revenue loss resulting from these changes.
