Bill overview
The VA Improvement Act requires the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Inspector General to identify and share specific recommendations for improvement at VA medical centers that received low performance ratings (less than two stars) in quality of care. The Inspector General will send these recommendations to the medical center’s director, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, relevant congressional committees, and representatives from the state and district where the medical center is located. Additionally, the Inspector General must publish a report within 180 days detailing the progress made by the medical centers in implementing these recommendations and any resulting changes in performance.
