Bill overview
The Syrian Partner Protection Act creates a special immigrant status for Syrians, particularly Kurdish individuals, who assisted the United States in combating the Islamic State. It allows those who partnered with the U.S. government in Syria as interpreters, analysts, or in other trusted roles for at least a year, and provided documented service, along with their spouses and children, to apply for permanent residency. The law sets a limit of 4,000 visas available annually for five years, with unused visas carried over, and includes protections for applicants facing imminent danger and access to refugee benefits.
