Bill overview
The Upward Mobility Enhancement Act aims to make it more affordable for employees to pursue further education. It increases the amount of educational assistance employers can provide without it being taxed, up to a maximum of $11,500 per year. This increase will be adjusted annually for inflation, starting in 2020, to keep pace with rising costs. The bill expands the existing tax exclusion for employer-provided education.
