Bill overview
The Accelerating Individuals into the Workforce Act aims to help low-income individuals find and keep jobs by providing wage subsidies through demonstration projects. States will receive grants from the Administration for Children and Families to offer these subsidies, which can cover up to 50% of an individual's wages for a maximum of 12 months. Eligible participants include TANF recipients and noncustodial parents of children receiving assistance, provided they are unemployed or have incomes below 200% of the poverty line. The bill also requires states to ensure that subsidized employment doesn't displace existing workers and mandates rigorous program evaluations.
