Bill overview
This bill, the Responsible Body Armor Possession Act, prohibits civilians from buying, owning, or possessing body armor that offers greater ballistic protection than standard Type III armor. The bill establishes exceptions for federal and state law enforcement officers, as well as for body armor already legally owned before the law’s enactment. Violations of this law can result in fines, imprisonment of up to 10 years, or both.
