Bill overview
This bill, the Promoting Tourism to Enhance our Economy Act of 2019, creates a new pathway for Canadian citizens aged 55 or older to visit the United States for up to 240 days. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate they maintain a Canadian residence, own or rent a U.S. home, and will not work or seek public assistance in the U.S. The bill also extends these provisions to the spouses of qualifying Canadian retirees, while clarifying that maintaining a U.S. residence doesn’t indicate an intention to permanently leave Canada.
