Bill overview
The LAMP Act of 2019 aims to modernize how endangered species are managed by expanding the role of states and local governments. It allows the Department of the Interior and Department of Commerce to enter into cooperative agreements with these entities, as well as Indian tribes and non-federal organizations, for managing species and their habitats. The bill also creates a process for delegating species management authority to states with established conservation programs and exempts environmental reviews for these agreements. Finally, it provides for financial assistance to states involved in these cooperative efforts.
