Bill overview
This bill, the Support Our Services to Veterans Caregivers Act, expands the eligibility for assistance programs offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs to include caregivers of veterans who have serious illnesses that were incurred or aggravated during their military service. Currently, these programs primarily support caregivers of veterans with serious injuries. The bill also requires the VA to conduct annual assessments to measure the burdens experienced by both caregivers and veterans participating in these support services, and to report on the program’s effectiveness in reducing caregiver burden.
