Bill overview
The Supporting Kinship Connections Act aims to strengthen support for families caring for children who cannot be with their parents. It directs the Department of Health and Human Services to provide grants for ‘kinship navigator programs,’ which assist grandparents and other relatives in accessing services and resources needed by both the caregivers and the children they’re raising. These programs will prioritize evidence-based practices and foster collaboration between public and private agencies to prevent children from entering foster care and ensure they receive the support they need.
