Bill overview
This Act, known as the Act for the Amazon Act, aims to address concerns about deforestation and environmental policies in Brazil. It prohibits the import of certain Brazilian products, including beef, soy, leather, timber, sugar, pulp, tobacco, corn, and petroleum, and restricts U.S. military and security assistance to Brazil. Furthermore, the bill prevents the U.S. from negotiating a new free trade agreement with Brazil due to the government’s lack of action on environmental issues.
