Bill overview
This bill, the Burial Equity for Guards and Reserves Act, ensures that states receiving grants from the Department of Veterans Affairs for veterans’ cemeteries are not restricted from burying members of the National Guard and Reserve components, even if those individuals are ineligible for burial in national cemeteries. It prevents the VA from imposing conditions on grants that would limit a state’s ability to inter these service members or their spouses at state-owned cemeteries. The bill also protects existing cemetery conditions established before the bill’s enactment.
