Bill overview
This bill, the Children and Media Research Advancement Act (CAMRA Act), directs the National Institutes of Health to fund research into how media – including social media, television, video games, and emerging technologies – affects the cognitive, physical, and social-emotional development of infants, children, and adolescents. The research will aim to understand both the positive and negative impacts of media use and will consider individual differences among young people. The bill also establishes a process for developing a research agenda and requires the NIH to report on its progress to Congress.
