Bill overview
This bill, the Nursing Home Care for Native American Veterans Act, amends existing law to expand access to grants for nursing homes that serve veterans. Specifically, it allows the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide funding to state nursing homes and, importantly, to Native American tribes that operate their own veterans homes. The bill also directs the Department of Veterans Affairs to consult with Native American tribes to ensure the program functions effectively and to recommend any necessary legislative changes.
