Bill overview
The FLOODS Act aims to improve flood forecasting, warning systems, and decision-making across the United States. It directs NOAA to establish a National Integrated Flood Information System, enhancing data collection, forecasting, and communication of flood risks. The bill also promotes partnerships with universities and federal agencies, designates service coordination hydrologists, and seeks to refine tornado and hurricane forecasts, as well as improve precipitation estimates. Finally, it creates an Interagency Coordinating Committee to foster collaboration among federal agencies involved in water management.
