Bill overview
The POWER Act authorizes the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services to provide grants to state, local, and Tribal law enforcement agencies. These grants will be used to purchase chemical screening devices – tools that can identify unknown substances – and to train personnel on how to use and interpret the data they produce. The goal is to enhance law enforcement efficiency, protect officers, and combat the flow of illicit drugs within communities.
