Bill overview
Savanna’s Act aims to improve law enforcement and justice responses to missing and murdered Indigenous people in the United States. It directs the Department of Justice to review and revise protocols, provide training to law enforcement agencies on recording tribal enrollment, and develop strategies for notifying citizens about the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. The bill also seeks to enhance coordination among agencies, empower Tribal governments, and improve data collection and reporting on these cases, while ensuring gender is included in FBI statistics.
