Bill overview
The Wildfire Smoke Relief Act aims to help people who are particularly vulnerable to the health effects of wildfire smoke. It authorizes the federal government, through FEMA, to provide assistance to states, local governments, and healthcare organizations to purchase smoke-inhalation prevention equipment for individuals at risk, such as low-income families, seniors, pregnant women, and those with respiratory illnesses. If equipment alone isn't enough, the bill also allows for transitional shelter assistance to protect these individuals from the harmful effects of smoke.
