Bill overview
This bill requires the Department of Homeland Security to produce an annual report on the state of ‘deepfake’ technology – the use of artificial intelligence and other techniques to create or manipulate digital content with the intent to deceive. The report will assess the technologies involved, how they are being used by various actors (both foreign and domestic), potential national security risks, and possible countermeasures. It also mandates consultation with numerous federal agencies and public hearings to gather comprehensive information.
