Bill overview
The Healthy Food Access for All Americans Act aims to improve access to healthy food in ‘food deserts’ – areas with limited grocery store access – by providing tax credits and grants. It supports the establishment of new grocery stores and renovations in these areas, as well as funding for existing food banks and temporary food access providers like mobile markets and farmers’ markets. The bill requires the USDA to regularly update its food access mapping tool and establishes a certification process for providers to receive these incentives.
