Bill overview
The Justice for Native Survivors of Sexual Violence Act amends the Indian Civil Rights Act to expand the jurisdiction of tribal courts over crimes of domestic, dating, sexual violence, sex trafficking, and stalking. It allows tribes to prosecute non-Native individuals for these offenses, even if they don't reside on tribal land or are not affiliated with the tribe. The bill also clarifies the definition of ‘related conduct’ and strengthens tribal authority to address these issues within their sovereign territories.
