This bill, the Motor Carrier Safety Grant Relief Act of 2020, provides flexibility for organizations that received grants from the Department of Transportation for motor carrier safety, commercial motor vehicle operators, and commercial driver’s license programs in fiscal years 2019 and 2020. It extends the time these recipients have to spend the funds they were awarded, and allows the Department of Transportation to redistribute any unspent money back to the agency. This aims to reduce pressure on recipients to quickly utilize all of their grant funding.
