Bill overview
The Laboratory Access for Beneficiaries Act (LAB Act) modifies how laboratories report payment information to Medicare. It adjusts the reporting period for these reports, temporarily suspending them in 2020 and establishing a new, less frequent reporting cycle starting in 2021. Additionally, the bill directs the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) to study and report on the methodology used to determine the clinical laboratory fee schedule, aiming to improve data collection and ensure it’s representative of the market.
