Bill overview
The Supporting Eating Disorders Recovery Through Vital Expansion Act (SERVE Act) aims to improve access to treatment for eating disorders for members of the military, veterans, and their families. It amends TRICARE to explicitly cover eating disorder treatment, including inpatient and outpatient services, regardless of a dependent’s age. The bill also directs the Department of Defense to prioritize mental health early identification training for commanders and supervisors to recognize and address eating disorder risk factors, particularly among those with a history of trauma.
