Bill overview
The Emergency U.I. Solutions Act of 2020 allows states to partner with the Department of Labor to temporarily provide full unemployment compensation for the first week of unemployment to eligible workers during declared emergencies. This would eliminate the usual one-week waiting period for benefits. The federal government would fully reimburse states for these payments and administrative costs, and the act also aims to permanently change state laws to eliminate the waiting week for the first week of unemployment compensation.
