Bill overview
The College Admissions Fairness Act aims to limit the tax benefits associated with charitable donations made to colleges and universities. Specifically, it restricts deductions for contributions to institutions that don't have policies prohibiting admissions decisions based on donations from applicants or their families, or on the financial ability of applicants to donate. The bill also requires institutions to collect and report data on students who are applicable children of donors, and mandates that institutions maintain written policies regarding donation considerations in admissions.
