Bill overview
The Child Abuse Death Disclosure Act requires states receiving child welfare grants to systematically review child deaths resulting from maltreatment. States must establish multidisciplinary teams to investigate these deaths, identify contributing factors, and develop recommendations to prevent future tragedies. These findings and recommendations are then reported to the state governor, legislature, and the federal government, with a national threshold established to protect family privacy. The bill also mandates the development of standardized national definitions for reporting these cases.
