Bill overview
This bill directs the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to examine the work of suicide prevention coordinators within the Department of Veterans Affairs. The GAO will assess these coordinators’ responsibilities, workload, training, and the rates at which positions are vacant. The goal is to understand how these coordinators are utilized across VA facilities and the level of oversight provided by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. This information will be reported to Congress to inform potential improvements in suicide prevention efforts.
