Bill overview
This bill, the Fair and Equal Treatment of Women in the Coast Guard Act, requires the Coast Guard to improve gender diversity within the service. It mandates the Commandant to develop and submit an action plan to Congress based on a 2019 RAND Corporation report identifying barriers to female retention. Additionally, the Coast Guard must submit biennial reports detailing the number of men and women serving, recruitment and retention trends, parental leave policies, and any limitations on career opportunities for women.
