Bill overview
This bill seeks to permanently extend a regulatory relief measure that allows critical access and small rural hospitals to provide outpatient therapeutic services without requiring direct supervision by a physician or nonphysician practitioner. Currently, Medicare requires this direct supervision, but this bill would make the existing exception permanent, easing regulatory burdens on these hospitals. This change was initially implemented in 2013 and has been repeatedly extended through subsequent legislation. The goal is to support the operation of rural healthcare facilities.
