Bill overview
This bill, the Seeking Inspector General’s Honest Testimony Act (SIGHT Act), aims to ensure that Inspectors General have full access to information regarding the implementation of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. It prohibits the President from blocking Inspectors General from reporting to Congress and establishes a process for reporting when the Department of the Treasury or the White House hinders access to records related to the CARES Act. If Treasury is found to be responsible for the lack of access, funding for the Office of the Secretary of the Treasury could be rescinded until compliance is achieved.
