Bill overview
This bill, the Disabled Veterans Rebuilding Infrastructure to Vitalize our Economy Act, amends the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) to increase contracting opportunities for small businesses owned and controlled by service-connected disabled veterans. Specifically, it defines a new category of ‘service-connected disabled veteran-owned small business concern’ and requires that at least 5% of transportation contract funds be awarded to these businesses, to the extent practicable. The bill also mandates states to report on the percentage of small businesses controlled by service-disabled veterans to the Department of Transportation.
