Bill overview
This bill aims to improve the process of providing funeral honors details for veterans. Currently, when the veteran’s own military branch is unable to provide honors, families can request support from another branch. This legislation requires the Department of Defense to create a plan outlining how this support will be provided and removes a requirement that honors must come from the veteran’s own branch. It also expands the potential participants in these honors to include members of the National Guard and approved veterans organizations.
