Bill overview
This bill, the Defense Storage and Supply Efficiency Improvement Act, aims to reduce costs and improve the Department of Defense’s supply chain by consolidating its distribution centers. The Secretary of Defense is authorized to consolidate warehouses and other storage facilities, but must first submit a detailed plan to Congress outlining the expected cost savings, facilities to be closed or disposed of, and a guarantee that the overall supply chain effectiveness won’t be negatively impacted. This plan must be submitted within 60 days of any consolidation taking place.
