Bill overview
The K2 Veterans Care Act of 2020 aims to provide health care and benefits to veterans who served at the Karshi-Khanabad Air Base in Uzbekistan between 2001 and 2005. It establishes a presumption of service-connection for certain diseases, such as those linked to exposure to jet fuel, volatile organic compounds, and other toxins, if they manifest after service. The bill also expands the VA’s open burn pit registry to include burn pits located in Uzbekistan, and ensures eligible veterans can access hospital care, medical services, and nursing home care for related illnesses.
