Bill overview
This bill, the K2 Veterans Advocacy Act of 2020, requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to conduct a study examining the potential link between exposure to toxic substances at the Karshi-Khanabad (K2) Air Base in Uzbekistan and illnesses experienced by military personnel. The study will be conducted in partnership with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and will assess the conditions at the base and the health outcomes of affected veterans. Additionally, the bill expands the VA’s burn pit registry to include burn pits located in Uzbekistan.
