This bill, the Veteran Debt Relief During COVID-19 Act of 2020, temporarily suspends certain debt collection actions by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) during and after the COVID-19 emergency. It prevents the VA from collecting, recording, or reporting on specific debts, as well as accruing interest or fees. However, veterans who wish to voluntarily make payments during this period are still permitted to do so.
