Bill overview
This bill, the Veterans’ Preference Parity Act, changes how veterans and retired military members qualify for preference when applying for jobs with the federal government. Currently, veterans needed to have served consecutively for more than 180 days to receive a preference. This legislation expands eligibility by allowing all retired members of the Armed Forces, regardless of disability or rank (major or higher), to receive a preference if they served a total of 180 or more days.
