Bill overview
This bill, the Post–9/11 Veteran Suicide Prevention Counseling Act, requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to create and maintain a comprehensive training course focused on suicide risk management, prevention, and lethal means awareness. The course must be culturally sensitive and consider the concerns of firearm owners. The VA will provide this training to its employees who work with veterans and will also make it available to the public.
