Bill overview
This bill, the RISER Act, extends the deadline for states and local governments to use funds from the Coronavirus Relief Fund to address the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, it allows these governments to utilize these funds until December 31, 2022, to cover necessary expenditures not accounted for in their original budgets, provided they do so through a pre-approved economic development plan. The plan must be approved by December 30, 2020, and must align with expanding access to broadband and telemedicine services.
