Bill overview
This bill, the Continued Assistance to Unemployed Workers Act of 2020, extends key unemployment benefits established by the CARES Act to provide continued support to workers who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It extends Pandemic Unemployment Compensation, Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation, and temporary financing for short-time compensation programs through January 31, 2021. Additionally, the bill extends federal funding for extended unemployment compensation and provides additional benefits, including a mixed earner unemployment compensation supplement for self-employed individuals earning at least $5,000, and clarifies eligibility rules for certain workers and caregivers.
