The Helping Parents During COVID Act of 2020 provides two tax credits to help families impacted by school closures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It allows a refundable tax credit of up to $800 per eligible child if their school district was closed due to COVID-19, and establishes a monthly payment of $1,200 per eligible child for families with qualifying children. These credits are subject to income limitations and expire after 2021.
